A ball point pen, also known as a biro which was first coined after its inventor Laszlo Biro. Ball point pens have an internal chamber which is full of dense ink and is relayed at the tip during use by the rolling action of a minute metal ball made of steel, brass, or tungsten carbide. The production of these cost-effective and dependable pens was the culmination of much experiment, contemporary chemistry and the meticulous abilities of 20th century expertise. The first ball point pen patent was confirmed on 30th October 1889 by leather tanner named John Loud.
A Hungarian newspaper editor, Laszlo Biro came up with the invention after many frustrating hours of refilling fountain pens and staining his work; the pointed tip of the fountain pen also ruined his worksheets and spoils their hard work, then Biro observed that ink used in newspaper printing had a quicker drying time, and there were no apparent smudges. There are two fundamental kinds of pens that is refillable and disposable. The refillable versions are made of metal and would cost more but on the other hand the refill reinstates the whole ink reservoir instead of refilling it with actual ink. Disposable pens are of course, cheaper and made of plastic. These pens cannot be re-used and discarded after use. The most common pens come with caps to protect the tip when not in use, to prevent drying up. Some other types of pens have a device so the tip can be pulled in and out.
